Rumours about new drone models from DJI keep circulating. The Mavic 3 Pro is currently the focus of speculation. Leaks of photos and renderings suggest that the drone manufacturer will soon introduce another model in the Mavic 3 series. But what details are known so far?

The Mavic 3 Series and its successors

The Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine were launched in November 2021, replacing the long-awaited Mavic 2 successor. Shortly after, there were rumours of further models, such as the “Mavic 3S”. In August 2022, there was a hint of another model called the “Mavic 3 SE”, which later became the Mavic 3 Classic.

Now there are images of the Mavic 3 Pro. DJI insiders and leakers have published photos and renderings that suggest a new model. The authenticity of the images is difficult to verify, but they could come directly from DJI.

DJI apparently often delivers its marketing photos to its media and sales partners as renderings in PNG format with a transparent background. Therefore, it is also possible that the leaked images actually represent official marketing material that has been released to the public in advance.

The Mavic 3 Pro camera

The camera of the Mavic 3 Pro can be seen in one of the published images. The camera unit is unusually shaped and contains three cameras. According to insider OsitaLV, the Mavic 3 Pro could have the following cameras on board:

  • a 4/3″ CMOS with 24 mm wide angle
  • a 1″ CMOS with 50 mm
  • a 1/2″ CMOS with 160 mm telescope lens.

It remains to be seen whether these assumptions will prove true. The Hasselblad logo on the camera unit is also striking.

New Mavic 3 Pro Cine Plus Combo?

Other photos show the Mavic 3 Pro from the side. The visible details, such as the gimbal mount and the screw holes on the drone’s housing, match in both photos. Another image also gives hints about the scope of delivery of the Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo. It is said to include an ND filter set in addition to three batteries and a case. According to the DJI insider, there will also be a “Cine Plus” variant.

Pricing and launch of the Mavic 3 Pro?

Nothing is known yet about prices and a possible launch date. However, it is expected that the Mavic 3 Pro will be more expensive than the Mavic 3 due to its features. The Mavic 3 Fly More Combo with the DJI RC-N1 currently costs 2,629 euros (RRP in the DJI Store). A Mavic 3 Pro Fly More Combo with the DJI RC is likely to break the €3,000 barrier.

An entry in the FCC database is still missing for the moment. This entry is usually always an indication of an imminent release.

In any case, the Mavic 3 Pro is eagerly awaited as the new top model in the Mavic 3 series.

Summary

The Mavic 3 Pro appears to be coming soon as the new top model in the Mavic 3 series. Leaked images and equipment details suggest that the drone will come with three cameras, including a 4/3″ CMOS with 24mm wide-angle, a 1″ CMOS with 50mm and a 1/2″ CMOS with 160mm telescopic lens.

Although the authenticity of the leaked images has not yet been officially confirmed, they indicate that DJI will soon launch a new drone. Nothing is known yet about prices and a launch date. However, since the first images of packaged drones have already surfaced, it should not be long before the official unveiling.
